This year at Concord we expanded our art department to include Connie Magoffin as a full-time art teacher with 22 sections of art, Shannon Steven as a second grade and kindergarten specialist with 5 sections of art and Teri Joyce as a kindergarten specialist with 2 sections. As always, we had a great year learning art techniques, creative problem solving and art history. Concord is a special place with great students and staff.
I will be retiring at the end of this year. I have loved art for as long as I can remember. One day in Albert Lea, when I was in 2nd grade, there was a horrible snowstorm and I insisted on going to school. After the snowplows went through the snow was piled higher than my father’s head, yet he walked in front of me to school, over a mile, to block me from the wind. When I got there, there were no other students in my classroom; yet my teacher worked with me the entire day on art projects. I have obviously never forgotten her kindness. I hope my art students have had their own memorable times in art class. I will miss sharing my passion with them.
