Parent/Teacher Communications
You and your child’s teachers are working together with the common goal of fostering your child’s education and development. Open communication between parents and teachers is important to your child’s successful school year. It is important to establish a comfortable system of communication with your child’s classroom teacher.
Classroom Newsletters
The classroom newsletter is a primary means of communication between you and your child’s teacher. It lists important dates, classroom activities, and up-coming events. Classroom newsletters are sent home via email and posted on most classroom web pages. Check with your child’s teacher to see how and when his or her classroom newsletter is distributed.
Telephone Communications
There are telephones in every classroom. Teachers will not answer the classroom phones during instruction. Please leave a message and the teacher will return your call during a prep time or after school.
To leave a voicemail message:
- Dial (952) 848-3921
- Enter the four-digit extension of the person for whom you would like to leave the message followed by the # key. If you do not know the extension, enter the letters of the person’s last name and the first initial of their first name until the voice mail system prompts you.
Staff members try to check their voice mail regularly for messages. If you have an urgent message, please call the Concord office directly.
Dial the Concord office at (953) 848-4300 if you would like to:
- Leave an urgent message for a teacher, staff member, or student.
- Leave a written message in a teacher’s or staff member’s mailbox.
- Speak to someone in the office.
Conferences
Parent Teacher conferences are scheduled throughout the school year. An early conference is held in September and academic conferences in November and March. Conference schedules include both daytime and evening hours. Prior to scheduled conferences, individual teachers may send home information to help parents prepare for the meeting. Additional conferences may occur at any time and can be initiated by either a parent or a teacher.
Early Conferences
The purpose of the early conference in September is for parents to express any special concerns they might have and to set learning goals for the student with the teacher. Children usually do not accompany their parents to this conference. Early conferences are scheduled at the parent orientation in September.
November and March Conferences
Academic conferences held in November and March are a chance for parents to learn about a student’s progress in detail. Student attendance is at the discretion of the teacher and parents. Teachers typically send home a sign-up form for scheduling these conferences.
