Principal's Message
Dear Cornelia Families,
A successful family road trip requires teamwork. This summer Max, Annie and Kate pitched in as our family travelled to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and Devil’s Tower National Monument. Max (10) gathered wood and built our evening campfires. Annie (9) utilized her organizational skills and set up and maintained our sleeping quarters. Kate (7) used her charm to provide comic relief. After 3,000 miles, 30 outdoor meals and 10 nights in a tent, our trip was a success. Like a memorable summer road trip, a successful school year requires teamwork.
Just as the team of Max, Annie and Kate brought different interests and talents to the Holden family road-trip, each staff member on the Cornelia team has a unique skill set. This school year we will leverage these skills as we focus on one of Cornelia’s goals: “…optimizing staff by developing their teamwork and cross-training skills….” Whether planning math instruction, teaching reading strategies, using inter-active white boards or participating in Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s), staff members will systematically share and collaborate for student learning and success.
Teaming efforts will also continue around the District’s goal of Enhancing students’ personalized learning experiences. Last year, grade-level teams at Cornelia personalized learning for students as they implemented Response to Instruction, or RtI. RtI is a systemic process that helps teachers meet the academic needs of students. This year teachers will continue to partner around reading instruction, and they will also begin collaborating for math instruction as Cornelia takes RtI implementation to the next level.
Winning teams have great players and at Cornelia parents, students and staff work together to make Cornelia a great school.
Sincerely,
Chris Holden
