Cornelia PTO Request for Payment or Reimbursement
The purpose of the Cornelia Parent/Teacher Organization is to support and enhance the educational programs at Cornelia School and to strengthen the relationship between home and school. Information about membership in the Cornelia PTO is distributed in September. Each family is invited to join the PTO. Annual dues fund the Cornelia Handbook and Directory and help support other Cornelia School programs and activities.
PTO Board
The PTO Board is comprised of Cornelia parents and the school principal. The parents assume responsibility for specific jobs over the course of the year. Volunteers for board positions are recruited in the late winter/early spring. Parents interested in other committe work should call the current PTO Volunteer Coordinator or watch for the annual PTO Volunteer Form that is sent home with students in the late summer. The PTO officers are the President and President-elect, Volunteer Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator-elect, Treasurer and Treasurer-elect, Communications Director and Communications Director-elect, Secretary and Secretary-elect. New officers are elected each spring for the following school year.
Volunteer Opportunities
The PTO and other parent volunteers play significant roles in organizing and running events, programs and activities at Cornelia School. Parents interested in volunteering may call the Volunteer Coordinator(s) or thechairpersons listed in the School Directory or the PTO website. The areas in which the PTO is involved include the following:
- Student Enrichment Programs
- Liaisons
- Communications
- Fund Raising
- Hospitality
- Service
- Special Committees
Meetings
The 3 Cornelia PTO General business meetings generally take place on a Tuesday evening in the months of October, January, and May. All parents are invited to attend and participate. Topics and times are announced in Visions, the PTO website and flyers from school.
The PTO and other parent volunteers help organize and run many events held at Cornelia School. The purposes of these events vary but they all serve to enhance a child's experience while at Cornelia.
How to Get Involved
The PTO offers you the following opportunities for involvement:
- Become a PTO member - your donation helps support its programs and activities.
- Attend business meetings to find out more about what is going on in the school and community. Share your opinions and concerns with other parents.
- Organize or assist with one of the many activities described above. Don't be shy. Your help is needed!
- Become a PTO officer.
