Principal's Message
About Principal Dahlquist
Since the fall of 2000, I have been enjoying my role as Principal of
Creek Valley Elementary School. I am blessed to be part of such an excellent
school, one that has respectful and high achieving students, an outstanding
and enthusiastic staff, and a supportive parent community.
My higher education path began at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota
where I majored in Social Studies Education and Psychology. While there,
I enjoyed my first trip to Europe spending a month in Cannes, France
with the purpose of increasing my French language acquisition. Autumn
of my senior year was spent student teaching in India.
After earning my B.A. from St. Olaf, I attended the University of Minnesota
and graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I then entered the
work force and taught for 15 years, mostly in the intermediate grades.
Over the course of my teaching career, I spent a summer at an elementary
school in Sydney, Australia, and another summer in Guatemala and Mexico
as part of a Fulbright Seminar for educators. Additional education includes
a Master’s degree in Elementary Education, a specialist degree in Curriculum
and Instruction, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration.
As an Edina graduate and community resident, I am vested in our school
district. I am proud of the rigor of the Edina schools, and impressed
by how hard teachers and students work, as well as the involvement of
parents. My philosophy of education includes strong academics and core
values. I also support the arts, and believe that our students should
be offered a well-rounded education.
When I’m not working, I love to travel, spend time up north, read, scrapbook,
and sing. I am married and have two children, both whom attend the Edina
Schools.
