Site Council
Mission
The Site Council, made up of parents, staff and community members. Its mission is to be a policy-making and review council for the school, but not to be directly involved in the school's day-to-day operations. Parent representatives are elected by parents on three-year rotating terms.

The Site Council welcomes all parents to attend their meetings the second Thursday of each month at 4:00 P.M. in the Media Center.

Membership
The council is composed of:
- The principal
- Four certified staff (have teaching certificate) elected by their colleagues
- One non-certified staff member
- Two parents from the Discovery Program
- Two parents from the Continuous Progress Program
- A parent of children enrolled at Highlands, but residing outside the school neighborhood.
- An individual without children enrolled at Highlands (community representative)
- A PTA representative
- Highlands Site Council Representatives for 2011-2012
Highlands parents elect the five parent representatives on three-year rotating terms. The rest of the positions are appointed positions. Sometimes, not all 14 positions are filled due to lack of volunteers. The Site Council values your interest and input and invites you to attend their meetings.
