FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Edina youth program holds summer carnival for good cause Edina, Minn., June 25, 2010 – The Edina WISE Guys, a youth program run by Edina Community Education Services, will hold its annual Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP) Food Drive and Summer Carnival July 1, 2010. The event serves to provide area children with a fun, safe and inexpensive way to kick off the Fourth of July weekend, while also raising money and food for area food banks. “It’s really amazing to see the support we get from kids and other members of the community,” said Program Manager Jane Tierney. “A lot can be accomplished in one weekend.” Children attending the Carnival last year collected more than 1300 pounds of food for VEAP. Kids attending this year will be able to exchange food shelf donations for tickets good for carnival games and concessions. Kids will also be able to purchase tickets for cash, and all profits of the event will also go to VEAP. Businesses are also encouraged to donate items that can be used as raffle prizes, items used as carnival prizes for games, concessions, food shelf items to add to the drive or cash to offset cost and/or supplement donations. Businesses looking to get advertisement as a sponsor of the carnival can contact Jane Tierney at 952-848-4812 or jantierney@edina.k12.mn.us. About Edina Public Schools: ### |
