FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Edina Center for Adult Education offering free community enrichmen From camps for the recently unemployed to a community speaker series, this spring there is something for everyone Edina, Minn., April 5, 2010 – Call it self improvement on a budget. The Edina Center for Adult Education is offering several upcoming events free of charge – from sports junkies to out-of-work employees, this lineup has something for everyone. As part of its ongoing Speaker Series “Look Who’s Talking,” the Edina Center for Adult Education is proud to announce the additions of Michele Tafoya and Elizabeth Craig to its spring 2010 schedule. On Monday, April 19, Tafoya, an Edina resident best known for her six seasons as a sideline reporter for “Monday Nigh Football,” will swap inside stories of her years as a sports journalist, also sharing how she’s found success in a traditionally male-dominated field. Tafoya’s has deep Twin Cities roots, having spent time early in her career at KFAN radio and WCCO-TV as a sports anchor and reporter. Out of work, underemployed, in transition or overworked? Then the Edina Community Center just might be just what you need. Monday, May 3, the Center for Adult Education welcomes Elizabeth Craig, a Master Career Development Professional (MCDP), Internationally Certified Career and Job Search Strategist, and award-winning “Best Business Book” author. Her presentation, titled Career Fitness – 10 Minutes, based on the Peter Weddle’s new book “Work Strong: Your Personal Career Fitness System,” focuses on a philosophy of working that is aligned with the modern workplace and a regimen of regular activities to vitalize and sustain a healthy career. Both events start at 7 p.m. on their respective days at the Edina Community Center, located at 5701 Normandale Road, Edina, MN 55424 and are free of charge. Coming this summer is a camp featuring strategies, tips and networking opportunities for the unemployed. The Out-of-Work Camp will bring provide weekly speakers each Monday starting May 10 and ending June 7, where experts will talk in depth about career strategies, employment resources and pertinent tactics to help find your way to your next job. The weekly gatherings are held at Centennial Lakes Park Centrum Building on 75th and France Avenue in Edina. The events are free of charge and will serve chips, salsa and beverages in addition to career advice. Speaker schedule:
