FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Valley View Middle School students to participate in creative pep fest Edina, Minn., Sept. 16, 2009 – Students at Valley View Middle School are set to show their school spirit one week early. In anticipation of next week’s Edina High School Homecoming football game versus the Wayzata Trojans, the school is hosting a pre-pep fest on Friday, Sept. 18, at 9:08 a.m. in the school’s south gym. The event is expected to last a half hour. The student-run event will conclude the school’s Spirit Week and will feature cheers, a cake-eating contest, a tug-of-war contest, a performance by the Hornets dance team and more. These individual events will depict an Edina team up against the Wayzata team. The Edina Hornet mascot will perform, along with the Wayzata Trojan mascot. The competitions, while being both fun and creative, will also be respectful. Ric Dressen, Edina Public Schools superintendent, and Chase Anderson, Wayzata High School superintendent, were both invited to attend the pep fest and support their respective teams during each contest. Yasmeen Almog, a ninth-grade Valley View student and director of the pep fest, said that the event will be “an awesome source of entertainment” due to the work the School Pride and Spirit student committees have put in before and after school and even some Saturdays. “It is an excellent group of students who are devoted to making the school a better place,” Almog said. “They will do anything it takes to deliver their best performances for their peers!” About Edina Public Schools: ### |
