Online Databases

CultureGrams - quickly research over 180 world countries and all U. S. states. This database includes information on land and climate, history, population, economy, religion, greetings, gestures, recreation, the arts, events, maps, flags, anthems, symbols, recipes, famous people and more. This site can be accessed from home.

InfoTrac - provides access to many databases, including newspapers, magazines and reference books. Read descriptions carefully in order to select the database you need. Databases such as Student Edition, InfoTrac OneFile, Health Reference Center, General Reference Center Gold, General Business File, Expanded Academic, Computer Database and Contemporary Authors will be most useful for school projects

Proquest - is a database of newspapers from around the world. Users can search the full text of over 300 newspapers at once, including the New York Times, The Times of London, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times and closer to home, the StarTribune.

SIRS - has full text articles, covering a variety of areas. This database contains SIRS Researcher (General Reference) SIRS Government Reporter (Information By & About the U.S. Government) and SIRS Renaissance (Arts & Humanities).

BrainPop- creates animated, curriculum-based content.

Online Encyclopedias

Grolier's- Three encyclopedias in one package: Encyclopedia Americana, Groliers Multimedia Encyclopedia and the New Book of Knowledge.

World Book - Includes dictionary, atlas and "Surf the Ages"
