The Gateway to Educational Materials (GEM)

The GEM consortium is spearheaded by the ERIC Clearing House on Information and Technology with support from the National Library of Education in the US Department of Education. This is NASA’s education site for classroom teachers. Every Thursday a new lesson is posted with an article to read (2 versions of the same article are included; one for grades 4-6 and one for grades 7-9), student activity sheets, and teacher lesson plans for each activity.
Example:
The Northern Lights lesson featured an anticipation guide and a vocabulary card sort as pre reading activities. In addition the site provides background information, related web links, and animated visuals to help students learn concepts.
